In this first solo exhibition at Issues, Olga employs painting, sculpture and sound to explore the nature of memory, private and shared. What can often feel like an exclusive memory is undoubtedly shared by many others and the impression that an actual exclusive memory is familiar with the general public makes for an abstract terrain. Olga’s practice can be described as exhibition- based, that she creates a body of work for a specific output. For Issues #4, Olga created a video exploring the little known territories and effects of online economies. Olga’s work has also been shown at Montague Space in London, DREI in Cologne, Dortmunder Kunst- verein in Dortmund, Gillmeier Rech in Berlin, Basis in Frankfurt, Shanaynay in Paris and at Loyal in Stockholm.

OLGA PEDAN

b. 1988 Kharkov, Ukraine. Lives and works in Bruton, England. Olga studied at HfBK Städelschule in Frankfurt, Germany and Goldsmiths London, UK.

Issues opened in 2014 with a group show with Celia Hempton, Anna Uddenberg, Alec Cronacker and Oscar Carlson, in a flat on Grevgatan, followed by a screening of Ryan Trecartin’s CENTER JENNY at home electronics department store MediaMarkt in Stockholm. As a response to the second show, Issues #3 exhibited Marie Karlberg at Grand Hôtel. Issues #4 was a group show with Zoe Barcza, Alfred Boman, Karl Norin, Olga Pedan, Emanuel Röhss and Jim Thorell, a group of local artists whose art in one way or another, influence the others’, got their work shown separately. This was done in a rotating fashion. The plan for Issues is to create a regular gallery program with artists connected to a local context, on a permanent location, at the moment this location is Skeppargatan 98. Issues will however continue to produce site specific projects with inter national artists.
