ALFRED BOMAN
06/06/2024–06/07/2024
Opening Thursday 06/06/2024, 16.00–20.00

ISSUES is delighted to present Alfred Boman’s first solo show in his hometown Stockholm. After graduating from prof. Tobias Rehberger’s class at Frankfurt’s Städelschule in 2011, he has been exhibited extensively. However, more so internationally than domestically and he is yet to have a solo show in Stockholm. This might be or not be the reason Alfred has split his Stockholm “debut” show in two. The first part, opening on 6th June, shows new paintings together with a custom made bench. The second part, opening 22nd August, sees another batch of new paintings in an environment created by the artist, composed of whimsical decorative elements and sculpture.

Known for his visually generous paintings, made using multiple techniques and media, Alfred Boman now shows a new direction in his pictures, developed over the past few years, that clearly evolve toward a singularity in terms of space and subject. Where we previously saw a meticulously controlled layered composition of different imagery, visually associated with ancient decorative arts and the 1980’s expressionism, we now see abstract but clearly defined rooms and objects. Alfred’s unmistakable style is still present in the new body of work, which we are delighted to show at ISSUES.
